How Wave Bar handles data. Last updated 31 July 2026.
Wave Bar is a Shopify app built and operated by Code Wave. This policy covers the app only. Questions: support@code-wave.co.za.
One thing: the Shopify session for your store, meaning your store domain and the access token Shopify issues when you install the app. That is what lets the app open inside your admin.
Your announcement bar settings are not stored by us. They live in your theme, saved by Shopify, exactly like any other theme setting.
Wave Bar requests no Shopify access scopes, so it cannot read your products, orders or customers even in principle.
Shopify’s install screen still lists View staff and contributor data. That is not something Wave Bar asks for. Shopify gives every embedded app the identity of the staff member who opens it, so the app knows which store is calling it. We use it for nothing else, and we do not store it: the session lives in memory and is gone when the server restarts.
Nobody. Data is not sold, rented, or shared with third parties. The app communicates only with Shopify’s APIs and its own hosting and database provider, which process data solely to run the service.
When you uninstall Wave Bar, your session is deleted automatically. We also honour Shopify’s mandatory compliance webhooks: a shop/redact request erases all remaining data for your store. Because we hold no customer personal data, customers/data_request and customers/redact requests return nothing to disclose or erase. You can also request deletion at any time by emailing support@code-wave.co.za.
If this policy changes materially we will update the date above and notify installed merchants by email.
